HEBREWS EARLY HISTORY · The Hebrews are a nomadic people who lived near Ur, in Mesopotamia · Had to move to Egypt after they had run out of food, and supplies in a famine. · They were enslaved when they went to Egypt · A man named Moses, who was one of their greatest leaders · They wandered the Sinai desert and crossed the Red Sea to escape Egypt. · God punished them by making them wander the desert for 40 years because they worshiped a false idol and wouldn’t wait for Moses to come down from Mt. Sinai with the Ten Commandments for the Hebrews. · They wandered around Canaan · They conquered the Canaan’s and used their land to inhabit. · Their two most important leaders where David and Solomon. · David became king by killing a giant, named Goliath, and he brought the Hebrews into one unified nation. · Solomon was David’s son. · He created big building projects, and made a massive church for them. · The buildings took many taxes and man power to be built. · Taxes caused the Hebrews to revolt against King Solomon · The Assyrians conquered the Hebrews in 722 B.C. because the Hebrews did not have the supplies and man power because they were fighting each other.
